For the last 30 years PasTest have helped thousands of doctors achieve career success and the job of their dreams. Since 2004 our highly successful SpR Management Course has trained SpRs in NHS finance, ethics & law, risk avoidance, NHS management and consultant interview skills. Between 2005 and 2007 we ran ‘SHO to SpR’ Interview Skills courses, helping junior doctors on their way to higher specialist training with targeted teaching on hot topics including corporate governance, dealing with complaints and, of course, effective communication and interview skills. Between 2007 and 2009 we ran hugely successful interview skills courses, helping thousands of doctors with the massively confusing MTAS process.
Over the years we’ve identified thousands of recurring interview themes, commonly ‘failed’ areas and hot topics, so in 2010 we have pulled all of this together to create PasTest Interview Skills. The first of it’s kind for medical interviews the resource is unique in that we can offer level and specialty specific interview skills advice. Combining past interview questions in key specialties with more general medical interview questions for comprehensive preparation, you’ll also have access to level-relevant teaching on key interview hot topics including corporate governance. What we won’t do is tell you what to say, and what the ‘right’ answer is. One of your main aims throughout your interview should be to remain personable, animated and unique, and you won’t be able to do that if you’re reeling off a prescribed answer verbatim. Instead we’ll give you tools for approaching tough questions, and we’ll try to get you to think about what the interviewer is really asking so you don’t fall into any traps. Each of our questions and detailed plans for answering has been written by specialists in the fields you’re interviewing in, who often sit on the interview panels you’ll face on the day.
